Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of a four minutes’ fitness intervention program in a 40 minutes physical education class in improving the flexibility level of 16 years old school boys (M = 16.1, SD = 0.42) in a secondary school in Malaysia. Eighty six (86) seceondary school boys were selected for the study based on the intact sampling method. One class was used as the control group (n= 38), while another class which was used as the treatment group (n = 48) underwent intervention in a form of a circuit training program involving a set of additional four exercises for four minutes after a five-minute warm up session in a 40-minute physical education class conducted twice a week for 10 weeks. After 10 weeks, ANCOVA analysis was carried out indicating the treatment group was significant with F (1, 83)= 38.82, p < .05. This indicates that an additional four minutes of additional four exercises in the form of circuit training in a 40 minutes physical education class conducted twice a week for 10 weeks improved the flexibility level of form four school boys in a secondary school in Malaysia.
