Abstract

This study aims to assess the level of awareness and contribution among polytechnic academic staff towards the goals of Blueprint Smart Green PolyCC 2021-2026 (BSGPCC). Indeed, the study was conducted through a survey using a closed questionnaire, containing two constructs, which are the attributes of awareness and contribution, which were used as research instruments. The target respondents included 13 polytechnics with a random sampling technique. Next, the data was analyzed using descriptive analysis, namely frequency and percentage. From data analysis, 75.74% of respondents are aware while 23.26% are not aware of the implementation of BSGPCC. There are 72.78% of academic staff showing a basic understanding level of awareness, while 14.79% are aware of the existence of BSGPCC through reading and 12.43% have joined it. From the survey questionnaire, it was found that academic staff have contributed the most in the focus area (BT) which is BT1: Education and research management. This is considering that this area of focus has been applied in the academic curriculum and study program but on the contrary, for BT6: Transport. BT6 has obtained the lowest percentage in which only 5% of academics contribute to it. The summary of findings shows that the level of awareness of BSGPCC is satisfactory, but the level of contribution is only moderate among the academic staff of Polytechnic Malaysia. Next, this study can be used in devising an approach to fuel the encouragement and involvement of academic staff in each focus area of BSGPCC and further cultivate sustainability in polytechnics.
