EFFECT THE EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM OF SAYYID QUTB (FI DHILAL ALQUR'AN) ON THE CONCEPT OF FORTITUDE AMONG THE PALESTINIAN PRISONERS -WITH THE ISLAMIC TREND- AND ITS IMPACT ON THEIR BEHAVIOR

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the educational curriculum of Sayyid Qutb (Fi Dhilal Alqur’an/In the Shade of the Quran) on the concept of fortitude among the Palestinian prisoners with the Islamic trend under Israeli occupation -- and its impact on their behavior. The researcher used the qualitative research method which is represented by: firstly, the use of context analysis on the interpretation Fi Dhilal Alqur’an of Sayyid Qutub, as primary resource, and the second form: represented by conducting a number of interviews with some of the released Palestinian prisoners --with the Islamic trend-- as a case study. The study found many results which can be summarized as the following: - It is appeared through the Quranic concept that fortitude means: rectification of intention and its sincerity leads to certainty, entrenched fortitude on the right path, in order to build a humane society based on achieving the objectives of the Sharia, and not to be dismayed or weakened in facing skeptics and enemies of humanity because Allah the Almighty has honored man by the deen and enjoined fulfilment of the covenant as Khalifah on Earth. - It is also shown that the prisoners were affected by Sayyid Qutb through his educational approach on the concept of fortitude in the exegesis Fi Dhilal Alqur’an, and prisoners are familiar with the objectives and goals, and steps which must be applied by a Muslim in order to access them. - It showed agreement of prisoners’ point of view about obstacles of fortitude, its implications, and the strategy they are taking to face these obstacles, with what Sayyid Qutb mentioned in the exegesis Fi Dhilal Alqur’an. - It is clear that the prisoners were affected by the sayings of Sayyid Qutb on the issue of solidarity as an educational model to be implemented by a Muslim and as a step to strengthen the pillars of society, and the views of the respondents highlighted that the issue is one of the most important topics which characterized the prisoners with Islamic trend. Based on the empathy and treatment accorded among themselves; it was clearly felt by those who observe their behaviors that they are as a solid structure where each one strengthens the others.
