Abstract
The purpose of this quasi experimental study is to study the effectivene ss of the multimedia tajweed learning courseware. A multimedia course ware with three modes of presentation was designed as the treatment. A total of 143 students were selected as samples from six schools in Pulau Pinang. A pre-test was administered to determine their level of understanding of tajweed and their recitation of several Quranic verses involving the tajweed to be learned. After 140 minutes of treatment, a post-test was administered to measure the treatment effects. The postt est results showed an improvement in both the dependent variables – the students’ understanding of tajweed as well as their recitation of the identified Quranic verses involving the learned tajweed. The three modes of multimedia presentation had a positive impact on understand ing of tajweed and Quran recitation. However, further statistical tests are required in order to determine which mode of multimedia best influenced the students’ learning.
