FUNGSI KOMITMEN SEBAGAI MEDIATOR BAGI HUBUNGAN BIAH SEKOLAH TERHADAP PRESTASI GURU PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

Abstract
This study aimed to test the effect of commitment as a mediator variable of school’s biah (climate) factors to Islamic Education teachers’ performance. The study samples consisted of Islamic Education teachers in Malaysia (N = 418, from 82 schools). Data were analyzed using HLM (Hierarchical Linear Modeling) version 7.0 and SPSS (Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences) version 20. The validity of mediator variable, namely commitment was validated using Monte Carlo bootstrapping. The results showed: (1) school’s biah (climate) influenced the teachers’ commitment; (2) Islamic Education teachers’ commitment affected Islamic Education teachers’ performance; and (3) commitment functioned as a mediator for the relationship of school’s biah (climate) towards the Islamic Education teachers’ performance. The results of this study prove that commitment is an important mechanism that should be given priority by the administration to produce teachers’ good job performance.
