Many of the poems have been created based on the natural circumstances during the period of the Sangam era, with the introduction of a variety of subjects. They are known as Sangam Literary Songs. Time and their divisions occupy an important place. Although the term Karkalam is known as the rainy season, this article examines it’s the place in the Sangam literature, based on the title of spring in Sangam literature.

ஐவகைத் திணைகளை முன்வைத்து, சங்க காலத் தமிழர் இயற்கையோடு வாழ்ந்த காலச் சூழல்களின் அடிப்படையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட பாக்கள் பல. அவை சங்க இலக்கிய பாக்கள் எனப் பெயர்பெறுகின்றன. இவற்றுள் காலமும் அவற்றின் பகுப்பும் முக்கிய இடத்தைப் பெறுகின்றன. கார்க்காலம் என்பது மழைக்காலம் என அறியபட்டாலும், சங்க இலக்கியங்களில் இதன் இடமெது என்பதனை இக்கட்டுரை ஆராய்கின்றது, சங்க இலக்கியத்தில் வசந்த காலம் எனும் தலைப்பின் அடிப்படையில்.
